Task 3: Animated Social Media Assets

For this task, I created a social media asset animation for Remix Vault, designed to be fast paced, eye catching, and aligned with how users typically engage with content on social media platforms. The aim was to capture attention quickly while still communicating the brand’s identity and purpose in a short space of time.

Storyboard

I began by developing a storyboard that linked closely to my existing branding. Instead of opening with the vault, I wanted to explore another visual element from my identity being the keyhole featured within the ‘A’ of the Remix Vault logo. This led to the idea of starting the animation by moving through a keyhole, which acts as a visual transition into the content. It reinforces the brand concept of unlocking and discovering music in a more dynamic and engaging way.

After this transition, the animation reveals a circular arrangement of eight album covers rotating continuously. This was inspired by an example I learned during a workshop, and I felt it worked well in this context as it visually represents variety and discovery. While the albums rotate, a glitched text animation appears reading “Unlocked this week”. The wording ties directly into the vault and keyhole concept, while also clearly communicating that the content is focused on new or recommended releases.

As the animation progresses, the album visuals and text fade out for the final section. New text appears saying “Discover at” followed by a bubble like sound wave animation that reveals the Remix Vault logo. This is then supported by a clear call to action that pops in saying “Shop now”, highlighted using the brand’s orange accent colour to draw attention.

Overall, the animation reflects the tone and personality of the brand being energetic with the idea of discovery while staying consistent with the synthwave aesthetic. Using Adobe After Effects allowed me to refine the pacing and transitions to suit social media formats. To present the final outcome, I also created a mobile mock up to show how the animation would appear on a phone screen, making it feel realistic and contextually appropriate.
