My first self- promotional poster was made with the idea show where I’m from and what I would like to achieve in the future, along with my work ethic “vision, design, focus, create” which is how I’ve approached most of my work in this module and it has kept me coming up with fresh ideas. This poster was created using both adobe photoshop and illustrator. I was actually inspired by a graphic printed on the back of my ‘The North Face’ hoodie and that’s what helped me with the layout and colour scheme.
The side profile of myself was made using photoshop and is the same image overlayed five times each with a different shade of red minus the top one. Having my eyes fixated on ‘Objective 27’ symbolises that I’m focusing of my goal which is graduating university. Finally, the quote was taken from episode 62 of the Naruto anime “If you don’t like your destiny, don’t accept it. Instead have the courage to change it.”(Naruto, 2006). I find it quite inspiring and relevant to my university journey.
My second self- promotional poster was designed to showcase myself and words that are significant to me. Something I really like about this poster is how it’s connected to my previous poster with the addition of the same logo I used in the corner in each of them and the words “vision, design, focus, create” which is my work ethic. It’s like my own branding and the cloud symbol to me sort of symbolises “thinking” which I find relatable and relevant.
In this poster I only used 2 fonts but altered them by either stretching them or squishing them. The fonts of choice were, Nimbus Sans Extd and Magno Sans Variable. These fonts worked really well because they are very flexible and look good modified. The contrast between the different thickness of the fonts is pleasing aswell. Finally I removed the counter in the letter ‘O’ in the word ‘vision’ to reveal more of my face in the background along with placing the word over my eyes as the word is associated with eyes. Furthermore, the words have been placed not just randomly but in a way that make some stand out more than others.
